Monday, March 21st, we were fortunate to have Prof. Ralf Smeets, MD, DDS, PhD, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, providing an overview of recent research & clinical results. He highlighted the benefits of HA+PRP combination therapy in various dental applications.
Prof. Ralf Smeets mentioned the specific precautions & requirements in the field of dental surgery such as: many germs; regeneration required for both soft and hard tissues; little vascularization & mechanical problems.
He then recommended careful selection of patients who could respond to this type of combined treatment (PRP and hyaluronic acid). He further described the protocols he uses to treat his patients.
He also explained the synergistic benefit of the combination of PRP with hyaluronic acid with the following effect: anti-bacteriostatic, anti-inflammatory (PRP), anti-oedematous, – osteo-inductive, pro-angiogenetic (PRP), promote wound healing (PRP).
